Pendleton Art Center is now open

Middletown’s Art Central District is blossoming along with the spring flowers. Pendleton Art Center has now opened in downtown Middletown, at the corner of Broad Street and Central Avenue.  This latest in a series of such centers is a project of the Verdin family, owners of the world-renowned Verdin Bell Company in Cincinnati.

The Middletown PAC offers low rent artist studios and is open for a monthly Art Walk .  Artists set up their individual studios and their own schedules.  Once every month they will all be on hand at once for a 5-9 pm First Friday Art Walk --May 6, June 3, July 1, Aug 5, Sept 2, Oct 7, Nov 4, Dec 2.
The next day, 11am-2pm, all studios will again be open for Second Look Saturday.

The first floor of the renovated building is almost completely occupied and includes Melody Parmer’s All About You Catering company serving lunch Tuesdays – Saturdays 10 am to 2 pm.  Studios include a framing shop, wood block printer, glass worker, pen maker, photographer, jewelry maker and a wide range of art styles and media types.  Even when a particular artist may not be in the studio, their art pieces line the walls with contact information available.

First Friday festivities begin with the noon concert at First United Methodist Church, 125 S Broad St.  Just across the street is the Middletown Public Library with an extensive collection of local art works. Middletown Art Center and Beau Verre Riordan Stained Glass Studio are also open for First Friday events.

Pendleton Art Center will also open during other downtown events, such as the Wednesday evening Broad Street Bash summer concert series held in Governors’ Square Park just across the street.
