Bob Hess Fire Inspector/Investigator Middletown Division of Fire 513-425-1881 (Office) 513-425-1820 (Fax) roberth@cityofmiddletown.org
The primary functions of the Bureau of Prevention are divided into two parts- Prevention and Investigations.
Every year, all commercial occupancy in Middletown is inspected to ensure that all applicable fire codes are met and that any information in regards to fire safety to the structure itself is addressed. If violations are noted, the inspectors from the Fire Prevention Bureau and the fire companies assist in correcting the violations. In a typical year, approximately 1600 inspections are conducted.
Along with inspections, plans reviews, fire safety education and safety demonstrations are coordinated through the prevention office.
When a fire of significant size or circumstances occurs, the officer in charge of the incident may request for an origin and cause investigation. The Fire Marshal assigned to Fire Prevention will respond and conduct a systematic and professional investigation as to the origin and cause of the incident.
